In today’s world, money is a fact of life, and for anyone pursuing a passion-fueled or heart-centered business—especially one with a spiritual focus—there’s often a cultural expectation to lean toward generosity, to avoid “overcharging,” and to put others first.

But the reality is, we’re not in a barter economy, and you need money to live.

For lots of us, this can create indecision: do you follow your dream, or do you go after financial stability?

It may feel like you need to abandon your passion to make a living, or you might wonder if your dream business could ever sustain you. But the truth is, it’s not “all or nothing”—it’s “all or something”!

This journey doesn’t have to mean going all-in immediately or quitting your day job overnight. It might mean building your passion project as a side hustle while working full-time, gradually moving toward a sustainable balance.

The belief that success requires an all-or-nothing approach has held many people back, especially female small business owners. But it’s absolutely possible to build both your dream and your financial security.

Building a business you love, instead of just one that just makes money, creates alignment in your life. When you pursue work you’re passionate about, the energy you bring attracts clients and customers who resonate with your joy.

People are drawn to someone who’s passionate, who loves what they do, and they’re more likely to support and buy from someone whose energy is magnetic.
